Its three working rolls\u2014upper, lower, and side\u2014are installed in an asymmetrical arrangement position giving it the capability to roll plates during operation with a wide variation of curvature radii. The upper and lower rolls are used as driven parts, i.e., they turn in inverse directions. The hydraulic system causes the upper and lower rolls to rotate in such directions that they can respectively pinch the sheet. The side rolls work as the follower and are able to angle in relation to the axis of the upper and lower rolls upon the guiding surface so that these go either up or down to perform the rolling operation with a specific radius of curvature.
